In truth if I were to ever have been given my druthers, at this point I think I would really rather that the tea party, whatever that really is/turns out to be in reality, along with the fringe Republicans it attracts in Congress, er, uh, along with the “red states” and their red state Luddite thinking in general would, led by Texas, (you can leave those dynamite and charming women behind though thank-you-I almost married two of ‘em different places and years of course but both outta sweet, sensitive, creative and gorgeous Austin)… just go ahead and actually secede from this brighter, bluer, and far more hopeful Union!
I’m sorry but I am just so sick and tired of these pseudo-intellectuals and outright frightened anti-intellectuals pouring their often confusing, almost always diabolical and distracting conversation into the more legitimate and serious political and social debate …in many cases just saying almost anything however far-fetched for crying out loud…from the uneducated Michelle Bachmann’s proclamation that the founders worked tirelessly to free the slaves to the ignoramus Donald Trump’s pushing of the birther issue, to no, no I refuse go any further… I think you understand where I’m going. And I`ve been over some of the facts and figures of the North/Blue vs. the South/Red, albeit superficially in terms of resources, product capabilities, scientists etc., and quite frankly I really like our “blue” chances in a cerebral, even real civil war. Of course this won`t happen, their seceding, but the ongoing cultural and philosophical war definitely will continue. And one thing I am certain of is that in it, whatever happens the solidly Red South and their allies and will not be rising again, not unless it is within a fully integrated in every literal and figurative sense of that word, (at least Blue and more likely ‘Purple’) union period. Or as I heard one tough and brash, young serious female Long Islander yell to some big Southern guy loud-mouth in an argument in line. ‘Haven’t you heard? The war’s over and you lost’. ‘Get over it’. The other saying going around that seems to also get the point across rather astutely albeit more crudely is,.. ‘Don’t tea on me and tell me it’s raining. Exactly. GRANT D.
